Your documents
Content you paste, type, drag or open with any tool on this site is processed entirely by JavaScript running in your own browser. It is not transmitted to FreeFormatterr, is not stored on any server, and is not written to any log. There is no server-side processing component for it to reach.
When you use the folder comparison tool, files are read from your disk through your browser's File System Access API after you explicitly grant permission. Their contents are hashed and compared in memory on your machine and discarded when you close the tab. Nothing is transmitted.
What is stored locally
- Your light or dark theme preference, saved in your browser's
localStorageunder the keyfreeformatterr-theme. It never leaves your device and you can clear it with your browser's site data controls. - Ordinary browser caching of the site's static files, so pages load quickly and continue to work offline.
No cookies are set. No document content is stored, in local storage or anywhere else.
Third parties
Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com andfonts.gstatic.com), which means Google receives the standard request information a font request carries, including your IP address and user agent. No document content is included in those requests. Everything else the site needs is served from freeformatterr.com.
There is no advertising, no analytics product, no tag manager, no session recording and no third-party tracking pixel on this site.
Server logs
The web host records standard access logs for the files it serves — IP address, timestamp, requested path, user agent — as any web server does. These describe which pages were requested, never what you pasted into them.
Verifying this yourself
Open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, paste a document and run any tool. You will see no request. As a stronger test, load a tool page, disconnect from the network, and use it — everything continues to work, because all the processing is already on your machine.
